New Yorkers’ Stimulus Checks to Be Further Delayed While Cuomo Adds Signature Next to 50% Tax

ALBANY- New Yorkers in need of financial help will have to wait a little bit longer.

Soon after the news broke that the stimulus checks were to be delayed following President Donald J. Trump’s order that the Treasury Department add his signature to the paper versions, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order garnishing New Yorkers’ checks by a full 50 percent.

The deduction will appear beside Cuomo’s signature below the presidents’ signature.

“New York State is broke,” said Cuomo at his daily briefing earlier today. “The federal government has not answered our calls for financial help in any of the bailout bills so far. That’s why it’s time for New Yorkers to step up once again. Just as the people of our state were willing to take unprecedented action to stop the spread of the virus, I am confident that they will be willing to accept this necessary request to keep the state solvent. After all, we’re all in this together.”
